Afghan War Hero Gary Berntsen has come out full force behind David Bellavia, himself a decorated Iraq War hero, in David’s bid to capture the Congressional seat vacated by the resignation of the Republican Party choice, Christopher Lee.

Here is the text of Gary’s letter:

March 10, 2011

Dear New York Grassroots Activist:

I’m writing to you today with an urgent request. In fact, if you were serving beside me in Afghanistan, this would be an order. Please take a moment to read this letter and I will explain.

First: I need you to go to www.BellaviaforNY.com TODAY and sign up to help Staff Sergeant David Bellavia collect petitions.

Next, I need you to pass this emergency email along to your friends in grassroots, Tea Party and 912 groups. Urge them to join our side in this battle for principle and freedom. We need all freedom-loving defenders of our Constitution to saddle up and ride to NY-26 and help David collect petitions to get on the ballot.

He must collect thousands of signatures in Western New York by March 19th to meet the legal deadline. Without you, he cannot.

Why the fire mission? I’ll be blunt: the same Erie County Republican leaders who killed my 2010 candidacy for the United States Senate have conspired to push David, perhaps the most decorated combat veteran of his generation, out of the campaign for Congress in New York’s 26th Congressional District.

They killed David’s chances to earn the Republican nomination through an insidious whisper campaign, just like they tried to do to me last year. Now they have ordered all petition experts in New York to refuse to help him get on the ballot. “If you help Bellavia,” they say, “you are finished with the Republican Party forever.”

Those shenanigans and that attitude is exactly what is killing the Republican Party. And men and women like David Bellavia, who have risked their lives for our nation, can help us bring dignity and honor to the Grand Old Party and restore sanity to our nation’s capital.

As you may know, I am a 27-year veteran of the military and the CIA’s clandestine service. I was decorated for my service as a combat commander of a team of CIA and special forces in Afghanistan. Many Americans forget 2001 and the terrorist attack on America. But I know you don’t forget, and you remember the intensity of the battles immediately after. We were in the thick of it, behind the lines.

When you’ve served in combat, you share a unique and unexplainable kinship with men and women who also risked their lives in hard-fought battles. I’ve gotten to know Army veteran David Bellavia, and I want to tell you something: he is the real deal. David and his men risked their lives to clear Hezbollah fighters out of Fallujah one house at a time.

David Bellavia is one of those exceptional and honorable Americans who proudly steps forward to serve his nation. His heroism in Iraq is well documented. You can read more in Time Magazine here, and watch a Youtube video of his hand-to-hand combat here.

But let me warn you: this Web video is graphic and disturbing – because war is not a debutante ball.

David is not seeking public office because he is rich and bored. He is a bedrock conservative running on principle, honor and integrity – three core values he learned and exhibited on the deadly battlefields of Iraq.

You see, while his opponent was hosting glamorous house parties, David was fighting house-to-house against an enemy lying in wait to ambush Americans.

While his opponent was showing up for work in a comfortable job at a family company, David was leading a platoon of men who were fighting and dying for our nation.

While his opponent was inheriting millions, David was kicking down doors, taking heavy fire and fighting in brutal hand-to-hand combat in squalid bombed out houses booby-trapped to blow his men into a million pieces.

David was awarded the Silver Star for his actions during the Second Battle of Fallujah and the Bronze Star, three Army Commendation Medals, two Army Achievement Medals and the New York State Conspicuous Service Cross, our State’s highest award.

David has been nominated for the Medal of Honor and the Distinguished Service Cross. In 2005, he was inducted into the New York Veterans’ Hall of Fame.

As a civilian, David has been an active and loyal Republican. He co-founded Vets For Freedom, a national organization that helped seat ten veterans into the House of Representatives. Together, with other like-minded veterans, he built a vast network of young conservatives poised to lead the Republican Party for generations to come.

Vets for Freedom played a major role in the 2008 national election. David and his co-founders raised and spent millions of dollars on twelve states that certainly turned the tide in tough races and stopped the hemorrhaging of Republican seats in others. From our desert battlefields to our continuation of duty at home, David made sure veterans like Congressman Allen West of Florida made a difference in the Republican Party.

David ran for this same nomination in 2008 against the eventual Congressman, millionaire Chris Lee. When Chris Lee and our decorated combat hero became the last two in Republicans in contention, David met with Erie County Republican Party bosses. “It’s not your time,” they told him. For the good of the Party, David decided to bow out of a bitter primary to allow Chris Lee a clear sail into the House of Representatives.

David not only stepped aside, he did something no other primary candidate did for Chris Lee or the Republican Party: he actively supported Chris Lee.

We all know how that worked out for Western New York – Chris Lee was forced to resign.

Now, David needs your help. Party bosses are cutting off all volunteer forces who could help him gather his petitions. Without your assistance – maybe volunteering for one afternoon, an evening or a weekend – he will never collect the signatures of registered voters required to make the ballot.

David has fought for our country, just as you have been so active in restoring our Republic. Please sign up to volunteer at http://www.BellaviaforNY.com or email David at FireMission@BellaviaforNY.com.

I am calling this Fire Mission Bellavia. We must all respond as we work together to save our nation. There is no more important battle in the next ten days.

Principle. Honor. Integrity. We need more of it in Congress, and here’s your chance to make that happen.

Sincerely,

Gary Berntsen

PS: Please join this effort yourself, but also pass this email along to your grassroots contacts to assure all true Patriots know to ride to the sound of the guns in Western New York!

Anjem Choudary, the radical Islamic cleric from the UK called for a protest in Washington DC today, March 3rd.

Here is the video from Fox:

No one showed up!  Our intrepid Uncle Jimbo was there to greet them and was sorely disappointed!

No great loss.

Disgusting.

The supporters of the union protest at Madison, Wisconsin, are the same lefty groups who make a habit of desecrating war memorials in Washington and elsewhere during their protests.

Ann and Meade Althouse were there and exposed the casual disrespect these people show to our honored military:

Kudos to the Althouses for exposing this and for all their great on the spot reporting from the front lines.

More here!

UpdateThey return the next day to find out if the junk has been cleared off the memorial!

This is one of the reasons we support Allen West, retired Lt. Col., U.S. Army and now Congressman from Florida’s 22nd Congressional District.

We expect that he will be going places in the future!

Update: Fox News talks to Congressman West about his CAIR smackdown!

Excellent commentary on the rising tide of attacks against the Tea Party movement.

Bill Whittle has been one of my favorite commentators for a very long time.

In this Afterburner segment he addresses the Ground Zero Mosque.  Watch the whole thing!

On September 10, 2010, the Patriot Guard Riders escorted 9/11 and Blue Star Family members to a dockside ceremony in Freeport.

The Baldwin American Legion Post 246, the Patriot Guard Riders and Capt. Frank Rizzo of the M/V Miss Freeport V hosted the event.  Representatives of many other Legion Posts also attended.

The ceremony was opened with a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem by Jessica Afeltra.

Capt Rizzo was presented with a Citation for Meritorious Service by the American Legion.

Several of our outstanding Blue Star Moms were there.

The Amityville Highland Pipe Band provided a dignified musical backdrop.

The Coast Guard stood by as flowers were of remembrance were cast into the bay as the names of those lost since 9/11 were read.

A rifle salute was rendered before Taps was played.

And then it was time for some old soldiers to reminisce.

All the excellent photographs of this event were taken by Carlos Varon and are viewable here.

The following is a guest editorial by the parents of Navy Fireman Gary Graham Swenchonis , Jr., who was killed in the suicide bomb attack on the U.S.S. Cole.

Justice Denied to the Cole Sailors Again

Obama has stopped the Trial of Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri, the Cole Bomber yet again. This makes the third time! Why are we not surprised? Well first off Obama has made it a bad habit of denying the real victims and thier families justice.
We were to leave for Gitmo on a Friday, when on Wednesday Obama’s Aide called me to ask me if we would come to the White House for a meeting with President Obama on Thursday.
I asked him “Why?”. Even though I already knew that he was going to drop the charges against Al-Nashiri. The Aide was reluctant to tell me on the phone though. So I just told him “No. I know this meeting for what it is. Obama is going to drop charges.” Which he did at that meeting to much fanfare, and the promise that al-Nashiri would be charged and tried in a Federal Court.
It appeared that Obama thought that the Military Tribunal were too draconian, and that the terrorists would not get a fair trial. We thought that was extremely odd, considering that we had attended the trial of the Al-Qaeda Propagandist just two months before at Gitmo. We saw how professional all the military personnel conducted themselves at all times. In my previous profession I was in civilian court many times. From what I saw of the Military court it was much more professional in all aspects than the civilian courts.
But I think it’s a safe assumption to say now that we all know now liberal Obama is in his beliefs. So it only makes sense that Obama would rather have the terrorists tried in a civilian court. But then after more months of waiting, Obama changed his mind again!
Now it was back to the Military Tribunals, but with one major caveat. The Tribunals would be reformed! To better serve the needs of the terrorists. So after more months of waiting, Obama announced that the New and Improved Military Tribunals were ready. I thought that, well, even though the Tribunals are “terrorists friendly” at least we will get a trial after 9 long years!  My wife and I hoped that the New Tribunals were not as terrorist friendly as they were in Yemen. Where all the Cole bombers were either pardoned, given reduced sentences, and/or allowed to escape and roam free.
But Obama has changed his mind again! And we knew it was coming. The reason is purely political now. No matter how he and his administration try to spin it. If the terrorists were tried in Obama’s new tribunals there is a very good chance that they would be given extremely light sentences, and or acquitted. And that would be very bad news for Obama and the democrats in the present political environment.
So justice plays second fiddle to politics, again. And that’s wrong, plain wrong. The Cole tragedy is riddled with politics, and how they came first, and the victims and their families second. Too many instances to list here.
So the 10th Anniversary of the attack on an American ship of war will soon be here, and gone. And Clinton’s words that he spoke at the ceremony less than a week after the attack on the USS Cole will ring hollow. He spoke how American would track down the terrorists who had committed the attack and bring them to justice. We did not believe him anyway, but it sure sounded tough.
And in the end, the only terrorists killed who were involved with the attack, were taken out on Bush’s watch. And the only one to stand trial was on Bush’s watch as well.  So my wife and I owe President Bush a Thank-you. And we mean it too. I guess one president out of three who took some action ain’t to bad.
But President Obama should be ashamed of himself for the way he has played with the emotions of the victims families. I know we are ashamed of him.
Gary G. Swenchonis, Sr and Deborah Swenchonis
Even though many of your leaders have forgotten the justice that you and your mates deserve so much, we have not.”
Remember the Cole!

Last Sunday Code Pink and all the usual suspects staged a protest in support of the Wikileaks traitor Pvt. Bradley Manning.

Uncle Jimbo of Blackfive did several interviews with the media, here he is with the local CBS affiliate.

CNN aired interviews with both sides, leading with Suzy (Medea) Benjamin.  I laughed out loud when she mentioned “in the United States I know and love“.  The only reason she is in America is because Cuba threw her out when she complained that the Castros weren’t communist enough!

Newsy did an excellent video with background and other views:

Concrete Bob with his "Osama Loves Code Pink" sign

Toothless Dawg wrote an after action report on the national GOE website:

Well, it was pretty disorganized to begin with. Code pink and their affiliated communist retards said they were going to meet up at the Amtrak Station in the town of Quantico. I was sitting about 100′ from the amtrak station to monitor their arrival. Even saw one get a ticket from the MPs for some reason … maybe being entitled…

Others arrived in groups of 2 – 6, wearing their ‘arrest Bush’ and ‘Stop the war in Iran’ T-shirts. I swear I think I recognized some of them from when I faced them in the 60s … they still haven’t taken a bath or washed their clothes.

Cookie, A Vietnam Vet, and co-founder of the Gregory Harris Military Courtesy Room at Syracuse’s Hancock International Airport, has some nice things to say about the Gathering of Eagles.

Well Sir, some of you may recall that some time back I was involved with two other gentlemen, Loran Davies and Leroy Bowen in getting The Military Courtesy Room started at Hancock International Airport in Syracuse, NY. While raising funds for that worthwhile project, which BTW has been very successful and well appreciated by our fine Military women and men traveling to and from their assignments throughout the world, I had the occasion to contact DAN MALONEY from a Gathering of Eagles.

Upon learning of our endeavor, Mr. Maloney and his fine organization donated to our cause and greatly helped the Military Courtesy Room become a reality. THANK YOU Dan and all the members of A Gathering of Eagles!

I recently had the honor of corresponding with Mr. Maloney regarding another matter, and learned that he has recently been taped by The Tea Party movement (of which I am a proud member) to run for Congress in the 4th Congressional District on Long Island, NY.

Not knowing that much about Dan, I went to the GOE website and his Congressional campaign website to learn more about him, and to say the least, I was very impressed with this man’s credentials and his commitment to his country and community.

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to this fine American patriot and ask you to take a few minutes to go to the links I have provided and read about him and what he and his campaign stand for.

Read the whole thing here!
