Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad paid a visit to Brazil over the weekend to discuss a number of trade and diplomatic issues with Brazilian President Luiz Anacio Lula de Silva.

This is a continuation of Iran’s drive to build stronger ties in Latin American.  Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez is already an ally of Iran, and Iran has also opened embassies in Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Nicaragua and Uruguay.  Brazil appears to be next on that list.

Venezuela is receiving help in locating uranium deposits which Chavez says will be used for domestic power production (does that sound familiar?).  With Brazil, Iran is shopping for nuclear technology among other things.

This is also evidence that Brazil is stepping away from close cooperation with the US following its criticism of Barack Obama’s effort to restore the ousted President Zelaya of Honduras in violation of the Honduran constitution.

We can look forward to continued disorder in South American affairs as the bungling foreign policy of our president dismays our allies and encourages those who would spread their socialist mantra across the region.

More information here.

One wonders what diplomatic leverage (and it appears shrinkingly small) was purchased by Obama’s decision to lend $2 Billion to the Brazilian Oil Company, Petrobas, to develop offshore oil fields in the Atlantic.  Or was that just a payoff to George Soros?

Quite a few Brazilians protested Ahmadinejad:

Here’s some analysis by the Council of the Americas:

Tea Party Patriots came out in support of the Million Med March in New York City!

Protesting the Harry Reid vote for cloture in Congress, they attracted the attention of tourists and passersby.

The Vigilant Squirrel Brigade was there to capture the action.

Educate Our Youth!

We have been losing the war for the youth of this country to those who would undermine everything the United States stands for.  It is long past time for that to change.  One group fighting to preserve the values of our great nation by introducing children and teens to them is Free To Be.

Here is a two part video they have created:

They go right into schools to do their presentation and get a tremendously positive reaction from the students.

We need more programs like this and more teaching materials, pertinent to our youth, to make them realize the connection between the freedom and liberty they enjoy, and the costs, principles and values that create and maintain it.

Please think about the implications of this and how you can help.

Free To Be

And the crowds await her!

Going Rogue is selling like gangbusters!

For more on the first stop of her tour go here.

She has two Army posts on her tour:  Ft. Bragg 11/23 and Ft. Hood 12/4

About Fort Hood she says:

I’m especially looking forward to meeting our brave men and women in uniform at Fort Hood. I’m joining the efforts of many others by donating my royalties from the book sales during our stop at Fort Hood to the families of the victims whose lives have been forever changed by the tragic events of November 5th. I am humbled to be able to join the larger effort called “Community Response to 11/5,” which was established by the Central Texas-Fort Hood Chapter of the Association of the US Army (AUSA). You can read more about their great efforts here:

Eric Holder doesn’t know.

The decision to try 911 terrorists in New York is a poison pill to all of our constitutional rights.  Either the government will have to pick and choose which rights to allow in federal court, setting an unhealthy precedent, or the terrorists will be allowed so many rights that our sources and methods of intelligence will be compromised for generations, and conviction will be problematical.

More on the legal problems here.

Hat Tip: Gateway Pundit

Lynne Stewart, a probable enabler of the 911 attacks, was finally told to start serving her sentence for her conviction on aiding and abetting terrorism.

The unrepentent Stewart lost her appeal of the conviction.  She was disbarred from practicing law in New York, although that did not keep Hoftsra University from having her join a panel on ‘Legal Ethics’.

Patriots in New York protested outside one of her fundraising ‘gloat’ sessions all the way back in December 2006.  Friends like Ward Chruchill were present.

For selling out her country she got only 28 months, pathetic.  Hopefully a review will upgrade that to 28 years or more.

The ABA story is here.

Now if they would just prosecute “Pinch” Sulzberger and Bill Keller of the New York Times…

Here Keller adjusts a picture of his hero in the Times office:

A friend of mine sent me this story of his time in the Marine Corps.  Read through to the end, it’s a shocker.

Another crappy day in paradise, or The things you see when you ain’t got a gun.

Hawaii is a wonderful place. My father was stationed there in 1945 or so, working at Wahiawa Naval Communications Station on Oahu . When I joined the Marines in 1977, one of my personal goals was to travel as much as he did, at least try to. I was lucky enough to get stationed in a unit that deployed on ship at least once a year to distant places from the Atlantic Ocean . In 1978, I traveled to northern Europe; to Germany, Scotland, Norway and Holland.

In 1979, while waiting for the next deployment, this time to the Mediterranean Sea and to Turkey , all of a sudden we were told of orders to Okinawa , another place where my unit had a permanent presence at, Marine Corps Air Station, Futenma. Well, I didn’t want to go to Okinawa, I wanted to go to Turkey ! I wanted the Med, I could get orders to Okinawa, or “The Rock” as we called it anytime in my 4 year tour. So I passed on that deal.

3 days later, Staff Sergeant Day approached our work detail behind S-4 and announced, “Hey, there’s an error, of those 8 billets for Okinawa, 2 of them are for Hawaii!” “I’ll go!” I shouted! Who cared about Turkey when Hawaii was available! Smitty also spoke up and off we went a few months later, to spend 2 years of duty at what is one of the most beautiful places on Earth. Andy Stern is a communist boob.

Already cited as the most profligate visitor to Barack Obama’s White House, Andy just can’t stop bragging on his Twitter account about all the lobbying he is doing for the socialist cause.  The big problem for Andy, besides a running mouth, is that he never bothered to register as a lobbyist.

And, oops, that’s illegal!!

From Hot Air:

At 9 am ET today, Americans for Tax Reform and the Alliance for Worker Freedom will deliver a letter to both chambers of Congress and to  US Attorney Channing Phillips in Washington DC, demanding a federal investigation of Andrew Stern, president of the SEIU.  They will claim that Stern, who stopped registering as a federal lobbyist in 2007, has continued his lobbying efforts.  They claim to have compiled evidence of Stern’s lobbying from the recently released White House visitor logs, media reports — and Stern’s own Twitter feed, in what has to be a first for the social networking service.

Read the whole thing here!

Here is another excerpt:

Failure to  register as a lobbyist is a criminal act, which could result in up to five years in prison and a $200,000 fine.  But beyond that, wasn’t this the administration that was supposed to be the most transparent in history, and the one that would not tolerate lobbyist influence?  Didn’t anyone at the White House ask whether Stern had properly registered as a lobbyist when he was showing up every ten or eleven days in the West Wing?

Let’s see how the Adminstration and the Congress handles the case of their favorite Purple People Beater!

They better lay in a supply of these signs!

USMC Sgt Arechaga Place Sign

A number of groups participated today in honoring a fallen hero.

Sgt, Julian M. Arechaga, USMC, 1st Batt., 6th Marines, Charlie Company, 2nd Marine Division, was killed in action in Al Anbar province, Iraq, on October 9, 2006.

A large crowd gathering in Baldwin, Long Island, to pay tribute to his memory and rename the street where he grew up in his honor.

Sgt Arechaga was a hero.  He volunteered to serve a third deployment to Iraq because he was worried about the inexperience of the Marines that were replacing his unit.  His experience and bravery under fire is credited with saving scores of Marines and Iraq civilians during engagements in Ramadhi and across Al Anbar province.

Members of his family gave tearful remembrances of Julian, particularly his niece, whose recollections of her uncle Julian brought tears even to the eyes of hard bitten veterans.

It was an honor to stand a flag line for this Marine, whose service and sacrifice was remembered by so many.

Among the many groups present were:  Baldwin and South Hempstead Fire Departments, American Legion, Boy Scouts, Patriot Guard Riders, Gathering of Eagles, Nassau Tea Party, Local Politicians and clergy.
