Iraqi Soldiers continue to show their professionalism by capturing criminals and terrorists, and working with the Iraqi people to uncover weapons and ammo caches.  A compassionate medic keeps watch over an injured Iraqi boy, while a soldier makes friends with young Iraqis.

Iraqi Special Operations Forces capture suspected Special Groups criminal

BALAD – Iraqi SOF captured a suspected Special Groups criminal in the Hayyaniah district of Basra, June 11.
The ISOF conducted an op to capture the criminal who reportedly is involved in the kidnapping and killing of IA soldiers and murder of Iraqi civilians in the Basra area.

Iraqi Army captures two suspected terrorists in Mosul

BALAD – IA captured 2 suspected members of AQI in Mosul, June 11.
The IA conducted an op to capture suspected terrorists who are allegedly responsible for killing an Iraqi soldier and VBIED attacks.  Six additional suspects were detained during the op.

Baquba SWAT team captures three terrorists, detain four

BALAD – June 10, the ISWAT conducted an op to capture a member of AQI, suspected of housing and supplying AQI in the Aziz Ali Muhsin Village. The fighters are allegedly responsible for IED emplacement and conducting attacks against local SoI members, Iraqi and CF.  Four additional suspects were detained.
During the op, Iraqi and CF were engaged by enemy fighters.  One enemy fighter attempted to run away before turning toward Iraqi and CF and detonating his person-borne IED.  No one besides the man was killed by the blast.  Another fighter attempted to hide in a ravine and once found, threw a grenade at friendly forces.  Iraqi and CF engaged, killing the fighter.
Within hours of completing the op, Iraqi and CF were contacted by local tribal sheiks thanking them for removing terrorists from the area.

IA Soldiers find weapons in Sadr City

BAGHDAD – IA soldiers seized 3 weapons caches in Sadr City, June 11, consisting of 7 IEDs, 10 grenades, 19
AK-47s, three Seminov rifles, 14 RPG rockets, 4 RPG launchers, an SPG-9 rocket, 2 RPKs, a Delta machine gun, 3 rifles and 200 AK-47 rounds.

NPs, local residents, MND-B Soldiers continue to rid Baghdad of weapons

BAGHDAD –  June 11, a local Iraqi resident turned in 30 57 mm anti-aircraft projectiles to a COP northwest of Baghdad.  Another local Iraqi resident turned in 7 155 mm high-explosive mortar rounds, a bag of unknown powder, 8 black boxes and 6 cordless telephones.
Soldiers from 3rd BCT, 4th ID seized an IED and 3 IA body armor vests in Sadr City.
Iraqi NPs found 155 mm artillery rounds, a 120 mm mortar round, and 3 60 mm mortars.
Soldiers from 2nd Stryker BCT, 25th ID seized 2 107 mm rockets and a RPG northwest of Baghdad.

Sons of Iraq thwart enemy attack

TIKRIT –  June 11, in the Salah ad Din Province, an SOI element killed 4 AQI members, 3 of whom were
wearing suicide vests, after being attacked while responding to a report of civilians being attacked in their homes.
Additionally, a vehicle at the scene was wired to be a VBIED.

Medical Engagement Team brings care, supplies

BASRA – More than 500 patients came to the Ar Risala health clinic in the Hayyaniyah district of Basra,  where doctors from the National Iraqi Assistance Center provided medical aid and health education.
This marks the third visit to a Basra health clinic by the doctors since Op Charge of the Knights began.  Safer streets and neighborhoods make it possible for the NIAC to send doctors and nurses into the city’s clinics to engage the local population.
The medical staff brought along several boxes of medication and other supplies for the clinic.  In addition to medical aid, the staff provided preventive health and child health care education.

Strykehorse medic makes house call

Sgt. Brent Townsend asks the father and sister to assist him while he disinfects the boy’s wounds in Al Sabyat, northwest of Baghdad, June 7. The boy was hit by a speeding vehicle, and requires a feeding tube. Townsend is a medic for Headhunter Troop, 2nd Sqdrn, 14th Cav Regt “Strykehorse”, 2nd Stryker BCT, 25th ID.
